TRAGEDY IN IGEMBE SOUTH! | GBV Claims Life of Meru Woman – Rage, Tears, and the Pursuit of Justice ⚖️π―️
π° TAARIFA TV | Raising Voices Against GBV π️
Meru County is mourning the brutal murder of a 45-year-old woman, a mother and friend, whose life was savagely cut short in the hands of her husband following a domestic argument. This heinous act of gender-based violence (GBV) has sparked outrage and reignited the call for action, awareness, and justice.
⚖️ The Tragic Night Unfolds…
As reported by the Assistant Chief of Ikuua, Igembe South, the woman’s lifeless body was discovered under a culvert
along Therone-Kiuma murram road, hours after she was seen walking home from Therone market with her husband, Samuel Miriti, while engaging in a heated argument.
Witnesses recall the suspect was armed with a panga
and is believed to have attacked her in the dark, inflicting fatal neck wounds before fleeing into hiding. The crime scene was a horrifying sight — a pool of blood, pain, and betrayal.
Detectives are in pursuit of Samuel Miriti, with a firm pledge: “No resource will be spared until justice is served.”
π¨ What is GBV and Why Must We Speak Out?
Gender-Based Violence (GBV) refers to harmful acts directed at individuals based on their gender, often rooted in power imbalances, inequality, and harmful cultural norms. It includes physical violence, emotional abuse, sexual violence, and economic control.
In Kenya, GBV is a rising crisis. Many cases go unreported due to fear, stigma, or lack of support. This Meru case is a painful reminder that GBV kills — and silence protects the abuser, not the victim.
π¨ STOP GBV! How You Can Help
Report any GBV case immediately — don’t stay silent!
Support survivors emotionally and legally.
Educate your community on peaceful conflict resolution.
Encourage victims to seek help — it’s never too late.
