🚨 ATTEMPTED ASSASSINATION IN ISIOLO: WHO WANTED MCA NICHOLAS LOROT DEAD?
Isiolo Town was rocked by a shocking assassination attempt on Burat MCA Nicholas Lorot, famously known as "Daddy." The incident, which occurred near Northern Galaxy Hotel at 7:50 PM, has sent shockwaves through the county, raising questions about political rivalries, land disputes, and corruption wars.
The Chilling Attack
According to Isiolo Deputy County Commissioner (DCC) Christopher Siele, Lorot was attending a meeting with Odonyiro MCA, Deputy Speaker David Lemantile, and two youths when he excused himself to take a phone call. Moments later, an unknown assailant, wearing a helmet and reflector jacket, ambushed him inside his vehicle and fired two shots.
Despite his injuries—bullets lodged in his shoulder and palm—Lorot miraculously managed to drive himself to the Isiolo Police Station, where officers rushed him to New Life Care Hospital in Meru for emergency treatment.
Political Heat & Death Threats
Lorot, a vocal advocate against land grabbing and financial mismanagement in Isiolo County, had recently demanded a forensic audit of the county payroll. His push for accountability had made him enemies in high places. In a shocking revelation, Lorot had earlier disclosed that Isiolo Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo
once texted him, warning that he had "crossed the red line" and would be dealt with.
Could this be the motive behind the attack? The revelation has intensified speculation, with many believing his relentless fight against corruption placed a target on his back.
What Next?
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have already begun reviewing CCTV footage from the crime scene. Meanwhile, DCC Siele has urged residents to remain calm and allow the investigations to take their course.
Lorot, known for being the voice of the people, has vowed to keep fighting, even as he recovers. His defiant stance signals that the war against corruption and land injustices in Isiolo is far from over.
Leaders Who Visited Lorot in Hospital
Following the shocking attack, a number of political and community leaders rushed to New Life Care Hospital to visit Lorot and show their solidarity. Among those who visited him were:
Senator Fatuma Dullo – The Isiolo Senator condemned the attack and called for swift investigations, stating that violence against leaders fighting for accountability must not be tolerated.
MP Hassan Odha – The Isiolo North MP urged authorities to ensure Lorot’s safety and called on security agencies to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Deputy Speaker David Lemantile – As one of the last people to see Lorot before the attack, he emphasized the need for leaders to be protected from political intimidation.
Human Rights Activists and Community Elders – Various human rights groups and local elders also visited Lorot, demanding justice and transparency in the investigations.
These visits have amplified the pressure on authorities to take serious action and ensure those behind the attack face the full force of the law.
