IS KENYATTA NATIONAL HOSPITAL SAFE FOR ITS PATIENTS? MYSTERY LOOMS AS A PATIENT IS BEHEADED WHILE RECEIVING TREATMENT

A chilling incident unfolded at Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) in Nairobi, Kenya, when 39-year-old Gilbert Kinyua was discovered murdered in his hospital bed. Admitted on December 11, 2024, for a cerebral disorder, Kinyua's life was tragically cut short on the night of February 6, 2025.

The discovery was made during a routine morning check by a nurse, who found Kinyua's lifeless body with a slit neck. A blood-stained kitchen knife was later recovered from the hospital's ground floor, suggesting the assailant may have thrown it from a nearby window. However, the absence of CCTV footage due to malfunctioning cameras has complicated the investigation.

KNH's acting CEO, Dr. William Sigilai, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and assured the public of the hospital's commitment to patient safety. He emphasized that there is no evidence indicating the involvement of an external intruder. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has taken charge of the case, and KNH is fully cooperating with the authorities.

This tragic event has raised serious concerns about security protocols within the hospital. The management has pledged to enhance measures to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors. The public is urged to allow the DCI to conduct its investigations without interference and to refrain from speculation that may cause further distress to the family.

As investigations continue, the community remains in shock, grappling with the loss of a life that was supposed to be protected within the walls of a healthcare facility.

Do you think KNH is safe??
